Tendencia de síntomas depresivos en adolescentes de 15 a 17 años en Perú de 2014 a 2023

Objetivo: Determinar la tendencia de síntomas depresivos en adolescentes de 15 a 17 años en Perú de 2014 a 2023. Materiales y Métodos: Estudio observacional, transversal múltiple, de fuente secundaria. Se consideró como criterio de exclusión adolescente sin dato en una las variables que forman parte del Cuestionario de Salud del Paciente (PHQ-9). Dado que las Encuestas Demográficas y de Salud Familiar (ENDES) utilizan diseños muestrales complejos, en los análisis fue necesario emplear variables de ajuste. Resultados: Se encontró una diferencia de las proporciones de síntomas depresivos entre el 2014 y 2023 (p valor ˂ 0,001). En el periodo 2014-2020 no hubo mayor cambio en los síntomas depresivos moderados a severos; sin embargo, para el periodo 2021-2023 la tendencia fue creciente. En general, los síntomas depresivos moderados a severos en adolescentes mujeres fue dos veces el valor de lo reportado en adolescentes hombres, esta brecha se acrecentó en los años 2021 y 2022. Hubo una mayor afección en la zona “capital, ciudad grande” en el periodo 2021-2023. Conclusión: En el periodo 2014-2020 la proporción de síntomas depresivos moderados a severos no sufrió mayor cambio; sin embargo, la tendencia fue creciente para el periodo 2021-2023, la proporción de síntomas depresivos moderados a severos en las mujeres fue prácticamente dos veces lo encontrado en varones, la zona “capital, ciudad grande” sufrió una mayor afección en el periodo 2021-2023.
